There were plenty of rumours about Kimberly after she moved in next to the scrapyard. Living in a trailer on the rougher side of town, how could there not be? But while most people assumed she was just some trashy slut, there were some who said she was a witch.
I had been day-drinking with some friends when Kimberly came into conversation. Boys being boys, we talked about her body and what we would do to her. All harmless until everyone chipped in ten bucks to send one of us to her door. And after I drew the short straw, I was left with eighty bucks and the instruction to ‘see what it would get me’.
“Fucks sake…” I grumbled, headed towards the scrapyard on the other side of town. David came with me to make sure I didn’t pussy out. And the forfeit for doing so would be to return everyone’s money and pay for a night out. I didn’t have that kind of cash.
“I can see her trailer from here. You’re on your own now, Jake.” David patted me on the back and pushed me along. “Once I see you hand over the money, I’ll head back and tell the guys. I’m not waiting around to hear that bitch moan.”
“She’s not that bad, surely.” I shrugged.
“I’m not covering your medical bills for whatever she gives you!” He called out, laughing in a drunken stupor.
As I approached the trailer, there was no sign of her. I wasn’t the sort of guy to pay for sex, but I also really couldn’t pay for all the guys’ food and beer. So after a moment of hesitation, I reached out and knocked on the door.
